On October 6,2007 Avon Cosmetics Ukraine will organize the One Day Walk for Life in Kiev, Ukraine to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer and to fundraise for the purchase of diagnostic equipment for breast cancer screening.

The event is organized in October, which is globally recognized as breast cancer awareness month. Last year, proceeds from the Walk and additional funds from Avon’s pink ribbon sales enabled Avon’s and its partner, the Women’s Charity and Health Fund, to provide portable mammography equipment for the Crimea Cancer Hospital. This year, funds will be used to purchase a stationary mammography unit.

We ask you to lend your support to this important event!

The Walk will take place on Saturday October 6, 2007 at Maidan Nezalezhnosti starting at 10:00 a.m. You can register to take part in the Walk prior to the event. The minimum donation for same-day registration is 340hrv. Registration will be from 10:00 am – 11:30 am, and there will be English speakers to help register you. The Walk will start at 12:00 noon.

There are some new and fun aspects for this year’s Walk at the start area in Maidan Nezalezhnosti:

A “family” event – The Walk is 5 km this year (reduced from 15km last year) to allow children to able to participate with their parent(s).
Information Area – Oncologists will be present in booths to provide information and answers to questions.
Beauty Area – Make donations for lottery prizes for an eye and lip makeover, and pink ribbon products.
Art Silent Auction – An opportunity to bid on beautiful artwork.

You can take part in the event as a:

Participant – As an individual you can register to Walk the 5 km distance and fundraise support among friends. You can collect support from friends and contribute this as part of the same-day registration on Saturday Oct. 6th.
Corporate donor – Your company or another organization can makes a charity donation to support fundraising or contribute a prize to the grand raffle among Walkers during the Closing Ceremony. Corporate donors are entitled to delegate several participants to the Walk.
Spectator – You may come and support the Walkers at the Start or Finish!

The event will be from 10:00 am until 17:00. The 5 km distance starts and ends at Maidan Nezalezhnosti, followed by a charity concert and a grand raffle for the Walkers. More detailed information on the Walk can be found at our website www.avonprotyraku.org.ua
